18 days until my due date.

October 21st, 2010 at 07:45 pm

Yes, I know, I have not been posting. Embarrassment

Mostly due to being preoccupied with the baby and setting up our new place. So many things to do - and I am not nearly done yet! The baby room is not set up at all - we just have a bassinett in the bedroom for now.

Also, even though I have promissed myself that I won't be "one of those" women that buy the best and get totally obsessed with their coming baby... And I kind of became one for a while. So I did not even want to post my expeses for the last few months. New apartment and expecting first baby at the same time have more of an effect on me that I thought.

Now it is going to be a race to finish, before the baby gets here. Oh, I'm so nervous about that too!

Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you and the baby seem to be doing well! Don't worry about the nursery; baby won't even be able to see it for a while. My little one's almost 8 months old and she never goes in there except to be changed or sleep (now that we don't have her in the bassinet in our room); she can't play unsupervised yet, or rather we prefer to be able to see & hear her while she's playing, so she spends most of her time in the main living area! We plan to paint the nursery and make it more of a playroom as she gets older and more mobile, but it's not at all necessary at first.

Oh, and about being nervous: Just remember that however it is for the first few months, joyful or miserable, easy or hard, it gets much much more wonderful a little later on. So if you have any dark days or moments (I confess I had a few), try not to get scared that it's going to feel that way forever. It totally changed for me at about 2 or 3 months!

(Sorry, I'm sure you get too much advice all the time. I know it gets overwhelming, but now that I'm a mother I'm just bursting with stuff I want to share with others. Now I get why they do that so much! Wink)

Oh, and watch for the changes in the moon (that's what they say in El Salvador, don't know how true that is, though)

Good for you! Keep getting ready, because you always have the insurance that whatever isn't 100% ready (aesthetically) probably isn't really going to matter that much in the long run. Our baby girl is 4 months old and she pays no attention to her nice little crib... she pays a LOT of attention to Mommy and Daddy and Big Sister! Here's hoping that all goes smoothly and leads to a blessed and happy delivery for you.

Thank you everyone for good wishes!

And Guppy, keep us posted when you have news.

Actually, I'm not worried as much about the baby room not being set up. That is just one of the things that I could control, so I let myself obsess about it. It is an easier worry, I guess.

I mostly worry about the baby being OK. After the pregnancy I had it is hard not to worry.

I just really want to hear that he is ok and healthy and hold him in my arms. 2 weeks now!

i am so happy to see you back posting, i have missed you Smile
DF's sister had a very hard first pregnancy - she lost 9 kilograms from an already skinny frame and could not hold food down for the first three months, and up until 6 months could only eat dry wheat crackers. by her due date, she was 2 kilograms under her 'pre-baby- weight :S

i hope the birth goes smoothly for you, best wishes to you, DH and the bub.
