Something fun to think about, but just not reasonable to actually do it.
For me, it is going back to Bariloche to ski in the summer. And to stay in this villa.

just look through the gallery, it is great - I love patagonian architecture.
Bariloche is my favorite town.
Beautiful alpine town with great atmosphere unique nature-inspired architecture and GORGEOUS nature all around.
The food in local restaurants is delicious - the best Italian food I had (and I live in NY) and asado, and all those chocolate shops and cafes.
We were there during their spring, and would love to also experience it in winter! I think it would be like a winter wonderland.
Now the unreasonable parts of it:
expense - when we went for our honeymoon over a year ago it cost us 11K for 30 days in Argentina, and we did not stay in places like that - we got private rooms in hostels.
Airfare is also much more of a consideration when going for a short time. 2k at least. OK for a 30 day trip, but not a 7 day one.
But the biggest impediment is that this place is simply too big for 2 people. If I had a huge family than it would be perfect for a reunion. But with friends - I won't find enough people willing to fly to Bariloche at the same time and share such a big expense.
So spending close to 10k for one week is just not something I would do or could enjoy. But I still think of coming back to Bariloche again. It is a romantic dream left from my honeymoon.
Unjustifiable dream vacation - do you have one?

Sure, you may have to tone down the villa, but you could still go and just stay somewhere cheaper.
Learn from my in-laws mistakes. they are 67 and never went anywhere. not one vacation. They are the most frugal people ever, but now they regret not taking more vacations, not doing the things they dreamed of, and it's too late because they are in poor health. Do you want to look back and regret NOT doing something? I don't, so we're going to France AND Mexico this year.

I actually think this is a reasonable goal if I save up for it for 20 years. (Or maybe a year or 2 of savings if dh returns to work some day). BUT, I would like to go with dh and coughing up $100k is mind boggling. I hope I can friend a well off friend to go with me by then.
I'm not huge on travel so one trip to see it all is good for me. Kind of why it appeals to me. I've seen most of the U.S. and a taste of Europe and Asia. This would cover the Pyramids, Taj Mahal and all that stuff I would unlikely travel to otherwise.

So I can't say we can regret not traveling enough. This year:
Netherlands, France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Ukraine (1 month) – I don’t usually pack it so “condensed”, I believe we need at least 3-4 weeks to start to understand and really experience a place, but I made an exception for Europe.
Last year: Argentina (1 month), China (24 days – study related, not personal travel)
Year before: Ecuador (1 month)
Year before: (9 month - 1 semester in China than Tibet, Nepal, Russia, Belarus)
Year before: 4 month (China and Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam).
I don’t count a week here and there in US and Canada.
We like to spend as much time as we can in a new place - it is not just about seeing attractions, it is about EXPLORING. That is why we always go independently - it is just not the same when you are stuck in a group or have things arranged for you. I love the feeling of freedom and of not knowing where I'll be the next day.
I do not regret for a second any of my travel. I do, however, understand that the amount of money spent could have been a small downpayment. I am not saving enough. I try to cut down on the cost, but when vacation time is limited it is not so easy.
I won't do something as extravagant as this villa, but it is fun to dream about it - maybe for our "round" anniversary - 5th or 10th.
I do find it curious to see what other people dream about.
