Yes, it's definitely cheaper to eat loads of cheap carbs. Sadly, I do, because my teenager is a bottomless pit, so we have lots of rice and potatoes and pasta dishes.
It's all in how you spend your money. If I'm reading your receipt correctly, the most expensive items are also the least healthy: Goat cheese, cream cheese, and olives. You got a cucumber for 0.50 and salmon for $3. That's not so bad.
Yeah, it can be expensive. Another adjustment is to get a taste for and eat produce in season when you can, when even the organic produce is reasonable - the apricots you'd buy and eat in August, rather than now. Definitely pays not to be a picky produce eater.
wow. all the salad items are quite cheap compared to what we would pay in australia for the same items, and taking into consideration the aussie/american dollars. is that 50c each for a cucumber?
