2 week mark - DH is sticking with it.

June 26th, 2009 at 09:20 pm

We have to make some lifestyle changes - DH was told by his doctor that his cholesterol is high. That sucks. He is not even 27 yet and is not overweight.

So we are now implementing changes that will be good for both of us. Nothing fried anymore, more healthy food, brown rice, whole wheat everything...

And working out. He has been running 4 times a week for 2 weeks now!
This whole week he stayed at the hotel and they have nice gym conveniently downstairs. But a week before he was running on his lunch break at work.
I am so proud and want to encourage it.
Seeing him do it so regularly makes me want to do it.

I wish we lived somewhere more green. Or had a house where we could put a treadmil. It is just not fun to run in an area of concreet boxes and asmost no trees, it gets really really hot and the air doesn't feel "fresh". I can't stand it. I hope we can get a place in a greener area where running would be more scenic. But we can't wait until that happens and have to do these things now.

Brooklyn Girl - My sister too lives in NYC ... family of 4 in a typical city-sized apartment. Needless to say, space is always a major consideration. She uses a mini-trampoline for "rebounding" exercise. Not only does she get a medium-intensity cardio workout, she is sold on the "detoxifying" effects of that type of workout. She is on an upper floor, and the tramp does not bother the people on the lower floors. She keeps the tramp leaned against the wall in her bedroom, so it's easily accesible. It came with a workout DVD that she used until she got to the point where she knew the routine by heart, and now she uses her exercise time to listen to downloaded podcasts or books on tape. She can exercise while her kids are sleeping. I tried it when I visited her last fall & I can tell you that you indeed get a good workout with it! Good workout ... minimal space involved ... available anytime ... not too expensive ... Might be something worth looking in to.
