Forget Amazon and Costco, Bloomingdales rules! I finally bought Kitchenaid mixer

April 15th, 2012 at 05:55 am

I finally got what I had my eye on for a while. Why did I decide to take the plunge? I finally saw it at the price I liked and I did not have to pay any more for a nice color. This is the one I got:

Bloomingdales had it on sale for $269, -$45 gift card I had, -10% off coupon, I got it for $219 before tax.

Plus, I bought it through Discover shopping, so I will get 5% cash back, bringing the total to $209.

Plus, DH says there is a rebate for a FREE grinder attachment with mixer purchase or a glass bowl (I'll get the grinder, to make sure I have fresh ground meat without any additives).

The tax was $21.57 -- Amazon charges tax in NY too, and it is $350 on their website.

I think it was a good deal for this mixer, in this color, and with a grinder attachment too!

I'll start making stuff like fresh baguettes, scones, butter and buttermilk, baked products. I'm also considering an ice cream or a pasta attachments.

What is your favorite recipe for KitchenAid mixer?

I wouldn't make scones in a Kitchenaid. They are too delicate!

I love making whipped cream or frosting, because the whisk attachment is great and everything fluffs up nicely. Be careful making bread or pizza dough in this model. As the mixer kneads the bread (dough hook), it tightens the bowl in the base. It's a big design flaw, IMO, but my husband always manages to loosen the bowl for me!

It's great for making cookies and cakes!

I make all of my baked goods with the Kitchenaid, even if I'm just making something out of a box!

While I don't use it often, I have the ice cream attachment and we have a lot of fun making some tasty recipes with it.

Now that I think of it, I've had my Kitchenaid for over 10 years now, wow! Looks and performs just like the day I got it (Christmas, from my mom Smile)

I really like that color too. I didn't know amazon charges tax in NY, i thought they kept digging in their heels to avoid doing that anywhere, like many states want them to, becus it would set a precedent and surely cost them sales.

I got a Kitchenaid from my kids several years ago. I use it for virtually all my mixing. I got some attachment for it last Christmas, but I'm ashamed to say I haven't tried to figure out how to use them!

Aside from whipping cream, meringues and baked goods, I've used the mixer attachment to mix up the ingredients for meatballs.

I love my Kitchen Aide also, having just gotten mine Christmas of 2010. (Mine is brushed pewter/nickel color)
