Bring food from home challenge. Day 3

July 24th, 2013 at 07:37 pm

Breakfast:
whole milk, fresh ricotta, so soft and delicate.
With freshly caramelized pecans (I caramelized and toasted them myself last night) Yummy!
and a little of earthy tasting(my favorite) organic honey and 1 baby banana.

And a fresh brewed coffee with some half and half.

Lunch:
Ton of vegetables cooked in curry sauce(from yesterday's dinner), with a tiny bit of rice and beef on the side.

Some longans for dessert.

I am feeling like a camel though, lugging a bag with containers everywhere I go. Sigh. And it does take time packing and prepping.

LOL, I sympathize. If I go to a happy hour or something straight after work, I have tupperwares coming with me. It was funny at the baseball stadium when he searched my bag. He asked, "What do you have in here?" and I said "Buncha dirty dishes."

My partner has tried to find elegant solutions for me, such as a bento box, a handmade sandwich bag and reusable sandwich wrapper, and a tiffin box. They are so cute, but most of the time it's more feasible to just dump my tupperware containers from the fridge into a plastic bag or reusable grocery bag.

The larger grocery chains often sell very inexpensive, food safe, glassine bags that allows light weight bkfst/lunch transport if you staple the bag shut. You will see these of various sizes for hot dogs or fries at concessions, fast food outlets or food trucks. They're not fun to eat out of so it helps if you can keep a small dessert plate & cutlery contained in your desk. The hidden benefit of these bags is portion control.

I totally understand the lugging stuff around, but think of it this way...better to lug around this stuff instead of debt.

Yeah, I hate carrying food, too. Sometimes I bring enough for two days just so I don't have to carry food the next day.
