My blood is boiling - Christie's bridgegate.

January 14th, 2014 at 05:06 pm

It is not because I live next to the GWB, or get stuck in traffic there with a toddler strapped in tight into his car seat.

But that these are the type of things, petty, vindictive, no regard for their constituents well being...

All of these people had a responsibility to ALL residents of their state, not just districts that voted for them. None of them not only not gave a f* about their welfare, but were actively malicious.

And that this seems to be the culture among these people and from the exchanges looks like it is done on a routine basis. And about how the appointee system works...

They should all go to jail, for sabotage of some kind. But of course, that won't happen. I'm sure they will be protected by Christie's political supporters in exchange for not implicating him. They have little choice but to keep quiet. Where are they going to go afterwards? But if they play along, when things die down, they will get cushy low-profile jobs in corporations that support Christie and will be well compensated to pay all their legal bills.

I, as a normal adult person, can envision possible consequences of such actions -- from bad, like pre-schoolers in school buses barely potty trained and unable to hold it for that long and traumatized by being embarassed by their peers and not being able to even get cleaned up. To people missing interviews or arriving late for jobs where they can't be late... to worst possible scenario - like someone being stuck in an ambulance with their baby in critical condition, and powerless to do anything for hours but to slowly watch them die.

I saw where all counties but for two in New Jersey had a majority of votes for Christie in November: does that mean most New Jersey voters approve of this revenge against the Fort Lee mayor? Can Governor Christie legitimately claim the gridlock was in his electorate's best interests, as this happened before November 2013?

I am of the mind that one gets what one votes for when re-electing a known quantity, so I'd like to read from New Jersey voters what they gain from this, or if they returned Christie to the Governor's Mansion in hopes things like this or more notorious would occur.

This was not common knowledge until now.

Prior to this, most people who are not involved in NJ politics had this image of him as someone who is reasonable enough to reach across party lines and overlook political differences to work for the benefit of his constituents -- impression left by him welcoming President Obama after Sandy. That is why he was so popular. I had that impression too. Now I understand that was nothing but a very calculated political move, designed to do just that.

He claims to know nothing of the incident...why is that so hard to believe? Obama claims to know of nothing that happens right in front of his face!

I gave him the benefit of the doubt when I first heard. But when you actually dwell into the story, this type of conduct is apparently commonplace.

And these people did not get to where they are without clearly understanding what is wanted of them and what is considered effective (look at Brigitte Kelly's career). If you assume, under the most positive light scenario that they acted on their own in this particular case, it would only be because they have seen this done on a routine basis and this was the culture of the administration. But in this particular case, that would be highly unlikely.

And after seeing all emails that were leaked to the media, him saying "for all we know there may have been a traffic study" How is that not an obvious bs?

This was intentional, malicious, and clear abuse of power. (Though you probably will eventually come up with how this was Obama's fault).

I only asked a question, had no intention of accusing Obama for this incident, no need to be so snarky to me because you didn't like my question. I personally think Christie is as much a liar as Obama and vice versa. The politicians work for themselves not for the people.

This was a question asked in an article I read:

If Christie is to be responsible for the culture in his administration, shouldn’t Obama be held accountable for his, especially considering the gravity, breadth, and impact of the latter?

Holding a position of public trust requires responsibility and accountability. Not only has very little been shouldered by this administration, but also the media have done little to hold them accountable. It shouldn’t be too much to ask for the media to be equitable and fair in their coverage of elected officials, irrespective of party affiliation. And we, the people, should demand it of them!

Agreed! Huge BS! If he knew or not is not the point, really, he appointed these people and this is how little they think of their fellow man.
